Default 4L60E Housing Problems

Was just wondering whether anyone else has had any problems with the tailshaft housing cracking. Mine cracked right in front of the trans. mount. I had it welded, and it cracked again, (I think the welding heated the aluminum up too much). Anyhow, I got a new one coming from GM (for a tune of $200, damn crooks) so it should be fixed soon.

What kind of HP figure are you dishing out? Once a car gets fast enough, the Torque Arm mount needs to be relocated to take the strain off the housing.

i am only pushing maybe 360 hp. I have few mods done, so I don't know why it would be cracking.

Thanks for your help!!!

drive shaft balance, bad u-joints, poly mount, worn bushings in the transmission, pinion bearing, ponion angle and bent output shaft any of these can all be to blame.
let us know what you find

Are you saying a poly trans mount could also cause this?

Well, The new trans tail housing I had bought cracked again about a week ago. I'm thinking that my driveshaft is outta balance...

So I got a housing coming from 11SECSS, and I bought an aluminum D/S. I hope this solves my issue, if not I don't know what I'm going to do...

From what I have been told, this is another weak link on our beloved F-cars, but what can you do but try to improve upon GM's shortcomings I guess
