Default VFN, ASCD, why no other Firehawk type hoods like the Raptor?

It seems there are any number of vendors that make the WS6 type hood, and an assortment of other "Ram Air" hoods, but Suncoast Creations is the only vendor making a Firehawk type hood.
I'd really like a quality "Firehawk" type hood to rival what Roger use to make. I just don't see any vendors stepping up to make a hood that a lot of people want, and I don't understand why.

People want a quality hood that looks like this.

I'm right there with you. I love the Firehawk hood and would have bought a Firehawk but my dealer at the time talked me out of it because he wanted to move inventory.

Oh well. My T/A isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so one day it'll have a different hood on it.

VFN
American Sports Car Design
Glasstek
Mecham
RK Sport
SLP

All of these vendors, and NONE of them make a Firehawk type hood.

Look at all the people that want the exact hood that Roger use to make.

10-11-2005:

Hi Guys.
We were fortunate enough to work with Roger on this project.
We are completing the mold for this hood at this time - we are about a week or two away from completion.
We should have pics and pricing pretty soon on this item.
Thanks.
Jeanie

Second page of that link.

Hey Guys.
Just wanted to answer everyone's questions/comments:
TA Guy~ this is correct, Roger did not grant us rights to the superhawk hood. We do not have plans on producing this hood only the ws9 that Roger has been working with us on.
So not only are they not working on the superhawk hood, they have "no plans to produce the superhawk hood"

It's clear from all the people in that post that there's a market for the superhawk hood.
So the question becomes, who can I give my money to,
to make this hood, VFN(second chance), ASCD, Glasstek?

I have the opposite problem. I have the real firehawk hood on a ws6. So the part where the nose of the hood meets the bumper has a little space that ws6 hoods cover.

Too many quality issues with the Raptor, I haven't sene one where it fits as good as a OEM would. I would jump all over a Superhawk hood though.

Exactly, I've never seen a raptor hood that fit well. I'm sure that's another reason some people have held back from getting a "Firehawk" type hood. If someone made a quality superhawk hood like Roger's, there might be even more demand for it.
Didn't Roger stop making F-body hoods because he had just too many requests, and didn't want to do so much volume? That happened right after he started making the superhawk hood. Coincidence? I think not

My Raptor fits good with no problems. How many Raptor hoods have you seen with problems?

I've seen close up picks over the years of 3 seperate people who bought and installed a raptor. All of them had fitment issues, and when asked even the owners said that it could have fit a lot better.
I'm sure there are examples that have fit, but it seems like the odds are against the raptor for an average chance of good fitment.

He moved onto Viper parts, so maybe the F-body stuff wasnt as lucrative, I dont know. I do know that a LOT of Superhawk and Superhawk Outlaws he made had fitment issues. He had to resend a lot of new hoods to those buyers because hes such a standup guy. This obviously became a problem so he stopped making the Superhawk altogether.

And once again, VFN is making the WS9 OUTLAW, not the regular WS9.

Well I wouldn't buy from SLP or Mecham, and most likely not RK Sport....SLP and Mecham I think I have read enough about them, and RK Sport seems not to be liked by the Corvette guys....I would like to see ASCD step up, Rex seems like a great guy

I was under the impression that only a handful of superhawk hoods were made and the superhawk outlaws were only a prototype ?

I would have to agree. If VFN can't produce this hood America Sports Car Design would be my vote for a quality vendor.

I'm pretty close to them since they're located in TN, so I'd be happy to provide my car for a free test hood
