I want to get a f-body ls-1 but im undecided to go with an auto or manual

maual is a lot more fun to drive. auto will be less likely to break the rear end. if you are in te market get a 01 or 02 for the fact that there were a couple of upgrades to those models, like the ls6 intake. also maual will get better gas mileage. when mine was stock i saw almost 30 mpg. on the highway.

yeah i am very happy with a manual, its my first car with one and it really isnt that bad once u get use to it, i use to tend to drift back and such, now i am getting better where i just ride the clutch slighty and then off i go.

also keep in mind what kinda driving is the car going to be in?

i have a 91 formula which is auto i use it as my daily driver and my 01 ws6 is my weekend work mobile and play toy.

Whats the better tranny here? I was lookin at a 94 Z28 with an A4 and 28k original miles (hardtop too) for $6000. However, I don't want it if it's slower than an M6? How do you roll race with autos? Are LT1s faster up till a certain speed than LS1s? Thanks for the help!

I think a ls1 stock will beat any lt1-modded but not sure, manuel trannys are usually faster, unless the auto has a performance stall converter, then it might be a drivers race. Any one correct me if i'm wrong.

In general I'd say that an m6 is faster if they are both stock.
lt's are always slower than my ls1.

both can be made fast. search the bazillion a4 vs m6 threads we have. the ls1 is faster on the top end then the lt1 regardless of tranny due to its inherent power advantage.
