Nope.

What fried on the alternator?
Bearings? Maybe a belt misalignment problem?
Or did it just give up the ghost?

does it have an internal or external voltage regulator?? It could of had a voltage spike and fried itself...Have you noticed if any fuses have been blown?? I just figured it would have an external because a 200amp is pretty big and I assume you have a healthy system in your car...So then I came to the conclusion that the voltage regulator wasn't adjusted properly or malfunctioned hence the toasted alternator...Just a theory man

it has an internal regulator. No fuses have blown. It really funny how it just went out.
I have no ideas as to why it went out, and there was no reason for it to.

There's definitely a reason but you're just not seeing it right now...Are all of your wires insulated and something didn't accidentally ground out or something not properly grounded?? that would make the alternator build up all of the voltage and make it possibly malfunction...The best thing to do is just to find out what happened and it would give you a clearer picture of what caused it...It could have been a manufacture defect or it could have been something on the car side but until you really know what they had to fix it's only going to be speculation to the cause of your alternator's demise..

I gave them a call, there were several things that had happened to it, but it seems to be internal the alt. itself. So maybe it was just a fluke. thanks for the help & info

Yeah... I would think that it was a fluke.
Alternators do give up sometimes.

The only reason that I could think of where the Vortech might have caused the problem, would have been if the belt was a little out of alignment or way too tight and tugging on the alternator pully funny... maybe  . Of course that would have fried the bearings and it would have sounded like you had 2 blowers under your hood before it gave up.
