Default Benefits and disadvantages of..(welding valve cover spacers)

I am debating about welding a set of valve cover spacers onto my new cylinder heads. I have put some thought to it and it really makes sense. Since the spacers and the heads are 6061 aluminum it would be easy as pie to tig weld the spacers onto the tops of the rails. Any disadvantages?

A) I personally wouldn't want to weld on my brand new $$$ heads for several reasons. Also may be a warranty issue if they (the heads) should have problems.

B) May affect yor ability to remove the heads if you are running head studs.

C) I've seen them welded to the valve covers, personally I'd do that first.

That's exactlly what I was gunna say. I'd much rather chance messing up a set of covers vs. a set of high dollar heads. Plus they will still be easily removable for head swaps and such.

also the heads are heat treated and you would weaken them by welding on them. Weld the spacers to the valve covers and be done with it.

Spacers are meant for the valve covers. Weld it to them, not the heads. Thats what we did....Much easier to replace valve ocover if you have an issue than the whole head...
