I installed a lid today and I can tell the difference. Its an a4. Earlier I was sitting at a stoplight in the right lane with no one around. I punched it on green and spun so much that I ended up in the left lane. I didn't think that it would make that much of a difference

I thought I did when I first put it on. May have been just my head because I thought it should be faster. I am sure you will notice on time slips at the track. Good investment no matter how you look at it.

A lid should add roughly 10rwhp at peak. Definitely good for a drop in ET and a gain in MPH, but it's never made any big difference in how the car feels to me on the street. Makes the motor sound better under WOT though

agree with that statement. same thing happened when I installed mine. my friend and I did a few pulls on the street and I hung with him better than before the lid.

I think some guys know the gain is there so thier minds make them think they feel the difference. If you add a lid to a stock or near stock F-body the gain is 7-10 rwhp which would only equal a tenth gain (maybe even slightly less) in the 1/4 mile. My acceleration didn't really feel any different after I installed my lid but I knew the gain was there.
The two mods in my sig that made the biggest night and day difference to acceleration was the torque converter and the dyno-tune. The torque converter for obvious reasons and the dyno-tune gained me 29 rwhp (I was running wicked lean).

I just installed a lid on my buddies otherwise bone stock SS. I made sure to take a before and after drive to measure improvements on my psychic horsepower meter. On the after drive, I noticed the car felt slightly more responsive. My buddies PHM was off the chart and he was ready to win a race.

I'm unsure on a totally stock car. My car already had LT's and ORYP when I added the lid and S3. The only thing I noticed is I got back some of that punch the car had from 1000 to 2000rpms I lost when I had the LT's installed. So basically a little throttle response is all I noticed and that's all the dyno showed. I gained 1hp and 1tq on the peaks with the lid and S3. If you look at the dyno I was up around 5hp and 10tq through the curve with it just kind of petering out at the end. I still have the stock cat back as well. So who knows why. The car does run pretty good though 8.3's
