the only thing about the 28 is..when i was at 3100 ish i swapped from a 26 to a 28 and it went slower by a tenth and half but the mph stayed the same..i then swapped back to 26 and picked up what i lost...this was off the foot brake...thats the old set up..im still running the same cam but the car is way lighter and using a trans brake fast 90 90 1 7/8 headers and a diff brand converter...

Sounds like a very familiar setup.

The lighter your car is, the harder it will be to dead hook the car on a smaller tire.

28x10.5x15 was my tire choice for that setup and it worked well.

yeah setups are pretty close..have you tried a 26..or can you not hook them at all..im almost certain im gonna need the 28...juss like to hear what you lighter guys are using..and plus i dont want to have a king of the hill tire on the car when there is no need for it..so a 28 is the max i wanna go..

I Think your going to have to go 28. But with doing so you may have ot up the gear a bit to recover some of the tire height since your running 1/8th

It took heads on my car to stand it up.

I'm almost 100% positive you won't stand it up cam only. Neither 01-Z nor I could do it cam only, and we had G5X4 cams with extremely light cars.

With a 4.56 gear you will need atleast 28" tires if not taller to make it through the 1/4 without spinning to 7500 rpm.

He only runs 1/8th miles. So in reality he would almost need a bit more gear

I know he mostly runs 1/8, but for him to take the cam-only title (which I think he is planning) he will have to run the 1/4 sometime

Maybe and if he's worried about runnin the quarter runn something like a 29.5 inch tall tire and the 4.88's! the car would ROCK then! I was talkin with a guy sellin a 12 bolt with that gear in it in the for sale section. Maybe something to think about specially if you dont already have a 12-bolt

Having watched Magnus and Jugger over the years, I think 26's would have been a waste of time.

Next time i go to a 1/4 mile track i'm going to try it on thwe 26's. on the 28's i was crossing the traps right at my shift light (6,000 rpm's). But with my big *** stall, the 28's and the stock cam i didn't have enuff power and it was slugish out the hole. i figure with the 26's all i'll have to do is wrap it our to about 6400 in third. the MPH won't be great but the ET should be there.

Actually 6secNALS1 is planning on driving his on the street everyonce in a while.
i on the other had drive mine everyday (seeing as its my only car) and have a 5100 stall w/ 4.10s. And i won't be changing either when i throw a cam in it.
The converter isn't the downer everyone thinks it is. you can drive a 5500 stall just fine everyday, its the gear that gets ya. i had to put 31" truck tires on my car just to get a decent rpm on the highway.

Sux, Jugger and Magnus were making around 415rwhp thru T400/T350 cam only... No way Magnus' car would have hooked on 26's even at a good track. At his raceweight and old power level, it was like he was making over 500rwhp compared to a full weight car.
