what gears in my 98 z28?

Exclamation what gears in my 98 z28?

i need to know what size gears i have in my auto 98 z28, i looked at the dealer paper that came with the car, that says all the options, and it says that it got the performance axle, what gears do these come with, i think there 3.23 but im not sure can any one help me thnx

I would say most likely 3.23 but there is a chance that you could have 2.73 there should be a list of RPO codes on the inside of your drivers door, you could go thru all the codes and find out for sure.

GU2=Axle, Rear 2.73 Ratio
GU4=Axle, Rear 3.08 Ratio
GU5=Axle, Rear 3.23 Ratio
GU6=Axle, Rear 3.42 Ratio

Performance axle for a 98 A4 Z28 is 3.23:1.

thnx for the info, if my differential was rebuilt, do they change the gears?

It depends, most likely they just changed the carrier unless there was significant damage to the ring & pinion..

oh! i checked and i found GU5 on the door, but im gonna try and ask my mechanic if he changed the gears.
