Default RTV Sealant on oil pump o-ring?

Wondering if I can use RTV sealant around o-ring for pick-up tube to oil pump? Just want to eliminate the possible bad o-ring seal.

Concentrate on seating the o-ring properly and skip the sealant.

You need it to be well lubricated when you install it, and silicone should not be used. I used Redline assembly lube and it slid right in. Use the old o-ring to practice a few times so you get the feel of a correct installation, that is what I did and you can tell when it slides in correctly. Make sure the tube is centered in the hole while you slide it in, if it is off you have a greater chance of pinching the o-ring.

Good luck

This is going to be my second time around doing this. First time was doing H/C install along with new ported pump. Felt fine going in no hang ups. My oil pressure isn't really bad but doesn't seem normal either not like the old pump. Also getting loud valvetrain noises and wanted to try replacing o-ring to see if it fixes.

You will know as soon as you pull it out if it wasn't seated correctly. Good luck.

Its not THAT difficult, just disassemble the pump and put the pump casing on the motor first, secure the pickup tube and o ring, then install the gearotors and finally the cover plate.
