clutch on a budget?
I'm looking at a centerforce dual friction clutch......i need a clutch that will be easy on everyday stop and go driving and handle the occassional pass at the track. Current mods are in sig and have headers w/ true duals going on over christmas break......might be adding a little juice in future but wont be going over about 410hp tops before that. My stock clutch is slipping at higher RPMs and i need a replacement.......but please remember i am in college and on a budget. Let me know what u think about the centerforce and other possible options. Thanx!!

look into the new ls7 clutch. it handles 500hp from the corvette, and is streetable. don't know price or install, but sounds like an idea that I am going to need in the near future.

I have a centerforce clutch and i love it. I would say go for it. Check on ebay and find the lowest price. they shoulnn't be too much. i had mine already installed when i bought the car.

i heard that the centerforce is a good clutch but doesn't work well with stock slave at high rpm's. may have to upgrade slave. if stock flywheel is warped or in bad shape u should replace it. if u turn it then u should shim the slave because slave only goes out so far and psi plate will be further away

you can buy a spec stage 3 for around $390. A lot of the guys in my car group that run cam, LT's, and giggle juice run the spec stage 3. They hate rams on bottle and LS6's didnt hold for **** N/A. Nor did mine, or my Luk Pro Gold. If you go with a spec, you get a TO bearing with the clutch too, and you can re use your hydrolics. I am in college as well and know exactly where you are coming from. My buddy and I just ordered up a pair of stage 3's and will be here mon or tues next week due to holiday. Either way you go, if you just buy a clutch, you will need to get it balanced at a shop which will run you another $75-$80. That is the only hidden fee for you besides the $10-13 pilot bearing. Also, the $40 to resurface your flywheel if you reuse it. A few things to consider financial wise.
BTW...does your car even idle? I saw your specs and DAMN! I have a 223/226 .578/.576 114 lsa and I thought that sounded bad *** with the cutout open. I guess when you live in CA you do think thats bad *** becasue not many other people have that kind of ****.
Best of luck to ya with the clutch deal. As far as the center force goes, there are two guys in my group that run that clutch and their setups are as follows:
Car 1: Patriot heads, cam, shorty's, cutouts, FAST LSX, 4:10's, DR's. No problem but I think his 3-4 shift fork is slightly bent.
Car 2: TR 224, LT's, street tires, 150 shot wet. Broke his 3-4 shift fork, but fixed it and no problems yet.
