Default Burning oil

My buddy has a SBC 327, he just installed a holley 670 street avenger carb with a comp cams 270/270 flat tappet cam. Hooker headers as well.

He also installed a new oil pan, same as stock. He put new valve covers on as well. Those were his major engine mods.

He started it up today and he's got oil buning through the exhaust, as well as through the breathers on the valve covers.

If anyone could give us a hint as to the problem, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Well, it really depends on WHEN its burning the oil.

Upon startup and idle, this usually indicates a valve stem leakage.

If no, or minor at idle, but it increases with rpm and load, then you have a ring problem.

And it could also be PCV related as well. Like maybe its allowing too much to be sucked into the intake tract.
