All LS1's have roughly 345 hp stock....I'd say a great place to start is gears and subframe connectors.

Congrats on the LE.
As stated, the LS1 is the same on all 01-02 Camaros. The 02 345hp option consists of an SLP catback, SLP OEM airlid and Donaldson Blackwing air filter. So any mods you see for any other LS1 will work fine on your car.

If it's got the 345hp option than it has either the SLP Dual/Dual or CME exhaust fed from the SLP performance muffler. It's a good muffler performance wise even though it is a bit quiet. My last 02 SS had it and I swapped it for a Magnaflow (long story). This SS I'm leaving the SLP muffler in and running long tubes and ORPs.

As for power...I'm going with custom 5.3 heads (62cc) with Manley pro-flo valves (2.02/1.575) PRC gold springs, Ti retainers, hardened pushrods etc. The cam is a Futral F14.

What brand of long tube headers are you putting?

Pacesetter LT's are the best value in LT's. If you get those and true duals, that will yield the biggest gain in hp and torque by far for bolt ons. Other smaller stuff that's proven is a ported tb or a ram air kit. Mark Shaner does good throttle body porting, but there are other good ones on here too. The best ram air kit seems to be the SSRA.

my vote goes for the MTI lid, FTRA and ported tb

if you dont have to worry about strick emissions laws them go with LTs and true duals I hear they add HP like magic togheater

I'm going with FLPs because I got a killer deal from a friend. My other car had SLPs and they were OK, but hung low and I've heard they don't make the best power. Around here you'll find that Kooks and QTPs are the top of the heap, but you'll pay for them.

I wouldn't waste any money on a lid since you have a decent lild already. Some will argue there are better ones, but some will argue that no matter what you have. Point is, the best lid may (and I say MAY) net you a few more HP, I'd spend the money elsewhere. I'd go with a tuner and if you can run headers a set of long tubes does wake these motors up. When I lost my white 02 SS and went back to my bone stock LE it took me awhile to adjust to the power loss. My current car is the 345hp package also, but my old car was the 345hp package with SLP long tubes, ORPs, custom tune and an AIRIAD filter. It dynoed at 330rwhp before the tune and the ORPS so it was proabably at least 340-350rwhp when it was ...stolen

i've got QTP's and they are great. very nice welds and a thick flage you don't have to worry about bending. plus the install is super smooth, nno grinding the k member and no ground clearance issues. all i do is drop the starter (2 bolts, 5 min.) and everything goes in smooth. just take a little practice getting the angle right.

long tubes are a great place to start.

I just installed the Dynatech SupermaXX system which includes high flow cats and y-pipe on my car and I could not be more pleased. Price from thunder racing for entire system shipped was ~$1379.00 during 10% off special. I also have the SLP dual/dual exhaust and car sounds awesome.

IMHO.......LT's (Kooks), Cutout (Electric), Cat-back (Borla). You won't be disappointed.

It has a lid & good cat-back on it. (the 345 package) Get headers (Kooks) & a good tune w/ ls1 edit. Also SFC's.

If your SS is an auto, get a stall converter.

Leave the lid and CB alone, and get LTs, if emissions laws allow. If an A4, get a stall, and go through the suspension to put the power down. make sure you find DRs if you are at the track

1st off, congrats on an awesome purchase (no bias here). And, ditto on the above plus stall converter too. Any other SLP opts?

btw-have you been to http://35thle.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/index.php

Congrats on an awsome buy. I think the best thing to do first,(depending on if it's a daily driver or not). Is to put a lid and catback on, and if your state has no emissions test, then a set of some sweet thunder trueduals will add a little power along with some long tubes.

I second that motion.

If not, Kooks/QTP headers (or coated Pacesetters for value) and TSP true duals (http://www.texas-speed.com/item_deta...ProductID=1241). Ask about getting them with Sweet Thunder mufflers instead of bullets.

Don't forget tires: nitto 555 drag radials.
