Default Shifting

Is there anyway to make a 96' Trans Am Auto catch a wheel when going to second gear? So i guess it would be like harder shifts...... As you can tell I'm a newbie with some questions. What would I need to do to make them bark?

get a gear...on my LT1 with 3.73 gears and midlength headers id get sideways from the 1st to second shift....other than that there is no way i would think
