Default 4l60 vs 4l60e?

I was wondering what the difference between the 4l60 and the 4l60E is? And if its possible to swap out a stock 4l60e and put in a race built 4l60 in its place and if there would be any computer related problems that might arise? Thanks in advance for your help.

There would be alot of computer issues. The 4L60 is the "new" name for the 700R4, to better describe is characteristics (4-speed, Longitudinally mounted, etc...) It used a Throttle Cable and Governer, so you'll have a bunch of solenoid and pressure switch codes as a result. You'd also have to fab up a bracket for the throttle body to operate the the TV Cable, and it has to be RIGHT, since that controls line rise in the transmission based on throttle angle.

And most of the mods that are done to the 4L60 to make them better, are the same mods done to the 4L60E, so your not gaining any strength.

So then would you suggest just swapping over the internal parts? Or if not, what would you suggest? Also how would I be able to tell if a car has a 4l60 or 4l60e?
