Default differences between the ls1 and 6.0?

I was wondering what the differances were between the ls1 and the 6.0s found in yukons and denalis?

the 6.0 uses an iron block versus aluminum on the ls1.

if i could guess the weight difference maybe around 150? 200 lbs? in full assembled trim.

6.0L iron block is ~ double the weight (~100lbs more) of an ls1 aluminum block. This is just the block itself.

I've also heard from several reliable sources that the real world difference between ls1 aluminum and 6.0L iron is 44-55lbs. Also the 6.0L heads are based on the ls6 but with a larger chamber and flow better than the ls1s do.

Ive heared quite a few people say that the 6.0 block is 100 lbs heavier... and I believe it. It took 2 guys to move mine, and 3 to move the whole shortblock. Also, the crank is a little heavier i believe, since it is solid. Also, there are a few differences in the bolt holes. One of the holes for the alternator is where the water jacket is in the side of the block, and another you will have to tap yourself (not a big deal). Also my A/C bracket didnt have one of the bolt holes, but i think 3/4 should be enough to hold it on there. Also, some years the 6.0's had a different crank that was longer i believe, and it wouldnt mate up to a t-56, and possibly not a 4l60e. Thats about all the important ones that I can think of. Also, you can bore it much much more than the aluminum. The LQ9 heads got different ports, like the LS6's, and they had a larger combustion chamber. Also, the cast iron will rust much much more than the aluminum, so it isnt as pretty. Thats about all the important ones that I can think of.
