Default 241 vs 853 heads ,have stupid question

I hope this is not a real dumb question.I have a 01 WS6 and the engine has a head and cam package on it with upgraded 978 springs & titanium retainers.I bought it that way.The drivers side head is 853 and the pass is a 241 whats up with that. The bill for the labor and parts was 5000.00 that's seems like a lot to me.I have the cam card also so I know whats I have.Just curious about the heads. The LS1 is a little new to me.

both are 5.7 LS1 head castings, the 241 casting are later castings and are suppose to flow slightly better, but if they've been worked over then it wont matter

That's kind of what I thought , I was told they were factory heads that were ported and polished up with new parts.thanks.

The porter probably broke through one of the stock 241 heads and picked up an 853 to replace it. Like it was said, theres virtually no difference once ported. 5K for parts and labor on what, just a head and cam package? If so, thats very pricey.

I never would have paid that much. The previous owner did. $ 2900 for parts which was a custom grind comp cam and the head porting and parts that went into the heads.2000 for labor install, the tune might have been included in the labor. Thanks for the replies.
