Default molding removal

Would it be worth it to take the side molding off my SS?? I've seen all the T/A people do it and it looks really good, but was wondering how well it would work out on a camaro. Can someone please post pics of a camaro without the side molding, and preferably a red one??

Nice looking cars guys. Wish mine looked half as good as any of those . I need to get a set of wheels, but everytime I start saving I end up spending money on performance parts. Anyways, I think Im gonna do this tomorrow or maybe even tonight. Whats the best way to do it, cuz I dont have a heat gun. Should I try using dental floss on them?? Is the paint gonna be discolored underneath or anything??

get yourself a hair drier.

I did mine IN THE WINTER OUTSIDE. new York winter as well. Snow on the ground and all.

I heated it up for like 20-30 seconds and then used dental floss to START the lifting process. Once I got an edge up, I just pulled slowly and evenly and it all came off.

The adhesive is the bitch due to your blisters on your thumbs after you are done rolling it off.

Just keep heating it and it works awesome.

Best of luck to you.

No paint fade you should see.. I found out my door was painted once before though

I had a heat gun when I did mine. When I did BAIN's I just started pulling the molding off. Both times I just pulled the moldings off, pulled off the bulk of the adhesive, and then used bumper sticker remover and a little elbow grease to get the rest off. A wash and a wax later, they were perfect!

I'm probably just gonna use dental floss/yank method and see how that goes, and then use goo gone to get all the stuff off. Does goo gone hurt the paint if I wash it off after I use it on the car??

Nope, used it to remove the leftover adhesive when I removed my stripes.

ive heard that you have to be fast and careful with it to not hurt your paint but i still wouldn't trust it.

like i said, just pull it off, all the rest over "glue" can just be rubbed off with your thumb, it'll just roll up in a sticky ball.

Nah, it should be fine. If you're apprehensive about it, I used a bumper sticker remover called "Sticker Shock" to get the left-over adhesive off of our cars. It works very well too...jusat spray a little on and wipe it off with a cloth. I got it at Autozone.

In case anyone else needs motivation to do it. I really like it better without, especially after I washed it the first time without them. I used a hair dryer and some waxed dental floss. Once I got a part started, I would gently pull, then heat up a little more and pull some more. I "rolled" the adhesive off with my thumb, then used a claybar to get rid of the final residue, after a thorough wash/rinse to get all the dirt that had been trapped under there.
