Coincidence, or just a bunch of idiots?
The receptionist at work experienced the same bull$hit a few of my friends
and myself went through when renting a truck at U-Haul.
She was promised a truck at 8:00 AM Saturday morning.
When they arrived to pickup the truck, U-Haul apparently didn't even have
records of the booking...yet, the couple confirmed the truck the day before!
Thanks U-Haul for screwing me and a bunch of others. Your organization is a scam.
I wish I would have known she called U-Haul, I would have warned her.
I highly recommend Thrifty Car/Truck Rental.

Not only that but didn't W-5 or some other news show recently do a feature on how bad a shape most U-Haul trucks are in?
I rented a 2 axle trailer from them once, it was the cheapest way to get my lift home. The trailer was the roughest looking thing I have ever seen. I actually fell through the deck of the trailer with my weight alone. The sides wobbled in the wind. While I was picking up the trailer I was looking at the trucks, absolutely none of them had any tread on the tires. This was in February as well. One of the trucks clearly had no front brakes and the frame rust on one of them was atrocious.
While I was there a couple were getting screwed by the U-Haul people, they too had checked the day before and were being told there was no truck to be had. They had to move out that day and were starting to freak out. I will never deal with them again.

Yes they did. I believe one customer (a woman) was pulled over by the OPP, apparently they inspected the truck and discovered numerous problems with it.
I remember the truck my sister rented from U-haul a few years ago - it was a POS.

The one time I used U-Haul was for a move from Toronto to Ottawa and they gave me a truck that was clearly on its final voyage. Sure enough after 450km of highway driving, the truck died five minutes from my new home. Calling their 1-800 number at 11pm on a Saturday night got me through to someone in bumble-fu*k southern US who had no idea where Ottawa was. Two hours later they managed to find me a flatbed. Nervously I watched the U-Haul tilt onto the flatbed just waiting for my 90 gallon aquarium at the back to be crushed by everything else. We then drove the five minutes to my house where the truck was then unloaded. Fortunately all worked out in the end and nothing was damaged, but I will never rent from U-Haul again as they knowingly send out questionable vehicles.
The next time I used Ryder which was a very nice truck. However many customers will be scared off by the fact that their larger trucks are all manual trannys.

Last time I rented a U-haul the dash fell off as we were goin down the highway. Then the truck completely died, took all day for someone to come fix it. Needless to say I hit the roof and ended up getting the truck for free.
Now I only rent Penske, they have new equipment(3900km on the last one), they're relativley cheap for a bodyjob and I don't have to stack anything up(I'm lazy and like to spread my stuff on the floor, so I need my space).
