Default Would you build a 408ci TT or purchase a Viper and TT it?

If you had the opportunity to purchase a Viper and twin turbo it or take your C5 with a 408ci and drop the compression to a boost friendly number what would you decide and why? Which would be faster?

If you didn't already have a C5 with a 408 I would say do the TT Viper, but, from where you currently stand all you really need to do is swap your pistons and cam and bold on the TTi X kit and you're in business.

Cheers,

Mark

or a kit from FMS

Honestly, I would say in your position unless you have money growing off of trees id stick with the vette.

Parts for the viper will be much more expensive, plus you would prob get 10mpg with an 8.3 liter to start with...

Vipers are friggin ugly as hell, just my opinion. I don't understand all the hype. American made is American made, stay with the Vette.

Will the TTi X kit support big cubes? I thought it had T3's instead of T4's?

tti x kit is the race kit right? i would assume they would make it so you could fit an 80 mm turbo or bigger in there? or is the tti x kit for the vette a twin kit?

I would take the vette hands down. The interior of the viper looks like a honda civic .

Would this be a custom TT Viper or like a Heffner (sp?) Viper? Also what Gen Viper? The Viper will have a much cooler bling faster, but I'd say a the C5 would be a much cheaper route. Like by 10k at the least. Your probably gonna be close to if not over 100k if your buying a new Viper and then shipping it off to a company to do the kit.

Vince, at your size you will hate life in a Viper. I tried getting into one and I hated the fit on it. It absolutely sucked for a tall person. The Vette has much more acceptable space for a similarly sized sports car.

Why not just pony up and get the twin turbo S7 and call it a day.

LOL!!! Yes I am tall, but Viper owners swear the seat kits will put the seat right where I need it.

Also, on the C5 forum they say C5 drivelines are not up to par when it comes to taking over 1000rwhp.

My vote is for the TT/T vette. When you pull up and race someone who's spent double or triple on their ride what you spent on yours it's just that much more fun when you show them up/beat em. And you can only imagine how that makes them feel... JMO

Sorry to go off topic Vince, but how is your textralia clutch holding up? I have it in my car, and am hoping to be making 550 to the wheels when im boosted.

Honestly, after getting in and out of one and sitting in it I find it really hard to believe. Granted, putting a seat kit in is much akin to putting a Kirkey in a F-body as far as space goes. But it's just cramped any way you put it.

C5 and C6 manual drivelines break the rear ends quite a bit. A lot of the twin turbo guys here went with autos and have stopped breaking by a big margin. Of course you can spend the money like the Viper guys have done with GForce transmissions and getting a new center section designed to hold the power.

If I had the money, I would build a TT viper over a TT C5, but we're talking a huge difference in price.

(Like almost completing the Vette for the purchase cost of the viper)

If money is no object, I would personally start with a 996 and make it crazy.

How about a C6 Z06 Twin Turbo? It is going to cost the same as a Viper TT.

Both are nice. Big problem with a TT Viper is cost and rarity of the parts. When something breaks, be prepared to bend over and sometimes wait for the parts. The wait isn't horrible now, but in 5-10 years...I expect it be a bitch....and everything cost 3X as much for the same ****. I swore I would never pay LPE prices to turbo my Vette. Well I paid LPE type prices to TT my Viper...and I got a good deal on most of the stuff.

Quick Reply: Would you build a 408ci TT or purchase a Viper and TT it?
