Warming the car up

Warming the car up
Now that it's winter, I had a question about warming my car up. It's in the garage all night, and then I pull it out onto the driveway and run for about 15 minutes. Is this too long? I've heard it's not good to let your car idle this long but I think it's torture driving a car in mid 20 temps with out it warming up.

I never get my *** into a cold car, usually start them 15 minutes before I leave. I do it with both my Camaro and my '00 Silverado. Never had any issues at all. I think jumping in a 10* car and taking off would do more damage than letting it idle up to temp.

when it's 35-40 or above I never start the car first, I just take it easy on it until it comes up to temp. But up here, when I leave for work in the morning I have seen any where from 20 to -20 in the winter... When it gets that cold I'll start it 15-20 minutes before I leave
EDIT: For the record, my cars (SS & Z06) never see those kind of temp, they are parked for the winter, only my Blazer see's winter weather....

i start the car, let the idle settle down, and go...then take it easy intil my oil temp gets up. sure letting the car sit there might let it 'warm up,' but only to motor is getting warm...not the rear or the tranny. just take it easy for the first couple of miles and let everything warm up at once. and plus, the heat will come on faster if youre driving vice just letting the car idle in the driveway.

20 and 30's arent cold fella's
When I woke at 7:30 am, -1* F, -17* windchill. (I'm sure to some people more north this is warm)
As for warming up, I start the car, let it run 5-10 mins (until the needle moves to about the lowest mark) Then I take it easy (shift under 2000 until its fully warm). Sometimes it seems like forever w/ a 160 deg therm

I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and its kind of amusing to see people wearing jackets and sweaters when its 60* outside.
