Be your own guide. The above post is by a mis-guided soul. There is no rubber in the shifter but there is in the upper handle. Some( like myself) have the factory short throw(Hurst) with a modified upper handle. I have no problem finding all the gears when I want them.Shifter feel is a personal selection . You will see that there are many opinions.

I got a umi short stick on the stock shifter, I got rid of the one with the rubber in it. Im talking about the Shifter its self. I dont seem to have a problem shifting the car even with a bad clutch I want to know if it is worth the $ when you dont have any problems??? oh and i ran into a deal for a Hurst shifter that cam stock in a 02 SS for $40 is that a good deal? will it make any difference over my stock one?

I prefer the factory Hurst. It is a shorter throw but does not generate the noise most aftermarket shifters bring . A solid( non rubber-isolated) stick will sharpen the shifts and may allow more gear / drivetrain noise to enter the cabin with any shifter. That seems like a fair price .
