Default Head gasket??

Whats the most popular head gasket on ls1 and what thickness My 408 will be probably .010 out.What the best zero deck,.010out or what??Help me now before machine shop starts cutting

Why is it going to be .010 out? Why not .005 out? Just use the stock 6.0 MLS head gaskets from GM.

.010" out is normal and fine. If indeed they do come in at .010 out, a .045"-.054 gasket would be best. You want to keep the "squish area" at about .035"-.045". Squish is the area between the deck of the head and the top of the piston. Basically your gasket thickness minus your piston height. Cometic gaskets are going to be the most popular because they come in the most sizes and thicknesses. Some like them, some don't. If I could find a graphite gasket, I'd rather use that, but not to many people make them in sizes other than stock.

Whats the thickness of that Iheard .060 which will give me .050quench I want .040quench

You can set deck height. HPE told me mine would be .010" out before they even started my motor. Will the stock gaskets fit a 4.030" bore?
