Default Cam questions

I want a cam that is as lopey as i can get, keep that in mind.
1) I have stock heads and probably will for a while.
2) Stock manifolds I know...with 3 in. Ypipe
3) Stock intake, for now

Can I use a g5x3 with the stock heads, intake, manifolds? the x2 is rated at 232/240 .595/.609 112 or 114+4 and the x3 specs are unlisted but said to be bigger so will they work with the stock heads?
I know the intake and manifolds need to be upgraded to see the max potential of the cam but will I be alright if I don't get them right away?
Please suggest any other cams I might like, Ive been researching the **** out of cams but figured I might as well post another cam thread.

Btw...I am running an A3 with a vig.3200 and the stock 3.23's

youu need to give a lot more information than what you gave if you want a cam suggested. what kind of vehicle? weight? engine type/size? i'm guessing you have a 346 ci LS1? a turbo 400 behind it? does it have a transbrake or no? enough ranting, now to answer your question. if all you want is lope, and nothing else, find a stock lift, low lobe separation cam. you may be able to talk a sponsor into having one ground for you. i think that would net you what you say you are looking for. hopefully this helps.

99 z28 convertible probably around 3500lbs., ive never weighed it
346 n.a. 100 dry shot next year
No trans brake
I want power too not just the lope. I know there are stealthy cams and not so stealthy cams so i was just narrowing it down to what I want. Ive read about the g5x3 being used with stock heads by a couple members and I was just seeing if it is something that others would do before I waste my money.

Do your external bolt ons first, then move to internal mods.
Unless you never want to put headers on, then that is not the cam for you.

You'd simply be throwing away all your power by running a cam like that on stock manifolds. It's not made for that....way too much intake duration. Do what I did, pick up some Pacesetters for a decent price, or even Mac midlengths and run whatever you want.

so with LT's id be ok to run the g5x3? I plan on doing headers and intake with the cam I am more concerned about being able to use the stock heads and still see a power gain worth doing the work.
