Suspension & Brakes - Brake Pull....

My WS-6 has 74K miles on it, do not know previous maintenance prior to 72K when I bought it. Pads appear to be not half way worn.

When I step on the brakes at a speed of about 40 or faster, I get a tug to the right in the steering wheel. Strange is that after that, it does not pull to the right after continued braking.

Need to fix this as now I spend 60 miles a day on the interstate at 80 mph (or greater) and need some assurance that I won't wind up off the road if I have to panic stop for some reason.

My first thought, would be that your RF caliper is frozen. I use a temp. gun (laser) to identify stuff like this. But if you don't own one already, it's not worth buying.

I just fought with a similar problem on a BMW 540i. It would lock up when you hit the brake, let go, and it would free up.

Replaced RF caliper, bled the brakes, and she was good to go.

You say it goes away after it initially grabs? That's what boggles me. Can you explain a little more?

Going over 40ish, hit the brakes and it pulls. Just that one time, or a few consecutive times. Then it's gone entirely?

Actually, it pulls consistently to the right while brakiing. I described it wrong before. Tested it this morning on the ride in. I think it probably pulls all the time, but is more noticable at higher speeds.

If it pulls right, wouldn't it be a left side problem? Replace caliper if its frozen?

Drag on the right will pull to the right. Lack of drag
on the left, will pull to the right. Some problems
with the slider pins on these cars crusting up, they
need grease (good brake hardware grease). If the
caliper can't slide to best position then its friction
force per pedal may be compromised?

Another possibility is that there is a brake fluid
or some other contamination of the pads (hopefully
nobody would be so dumb as to mix-and-match
pads side-side) that makes one have different
friction than the other.
