Street Racing & Kill Stories - Surprised by Saleen but he got the surprise.

About 5 am this morning I made my 60 minute commute to work but today instead of driving my Sonoma Pickup I drove my vette, always makes fridays better. Doing about 80 mph in 5th gear in the fast lane not much traffic ahead of me but I keep glancing in the rear view always looking for the CHP. I live in Los Banos small town south east of San Jose. I spot head lights darting in and out of traffic.......So I slowed down thinkin its the CHP but low and behold a 01 or 02 Silver Saleen pulls up next to me. ( I see him maybe twice a week driving like a bat out of hell cutting everyone off like he owns the road )He looks over at me and all I could see was this giant tach that looked as big as a spot light :jest: so he punches it and he is about a 1/2 car ahead of before I could punch it but like a dumb shit I forgot to down shift. I look at my tach and at 3000 rpms but as soon as I my engine hits over 4000 rpms I reel him in like he was standing still. I had to hit the brakes due to traffic ahead of me and slowed down and got behind him in the slow lane. He darts around the traffic and gets in the fast lane and I follow but by the time I get in opposite lane he is already 4-5 car lenghts ahead of me in the fast lane, and hear and see jump on it but this time I am in 4th gear at 4000 rpms which is just what I want and by the time I shift to 5th gear at about 125mph I past him.. So I had to slow down for traffic in the slow lane while he does a fly bye which at this time my adrenalin has kick in. And I gave chase he was this time about 6 car lenghts ahead and I could tell he was on it and I caught him again with my head lights up his rear end. Finally I realize this is crazy so I back off and let him drive off ahead of me. But damn what a rush at 5 am in the morning better than any Starbucks :jest: I wonder what will happen Next Friday :eek2:

Sounds like a cool Friday man. Try going to the proper gear and really show him what it will do. At 80 you should have went to 3rd :devil: Had this been a stouter/equal car you were racing they would have owned your ass.

I learned the hard way that in a race, it's balls out or nothing at all...just trying to help you out here. Nice kill BTW :)
