Default More questions for you STS experts

Hi Everyone,

I have a STS TT for my z06 ready to be installed. I have a dilemma. I drove my friend's car who has the same system, and it is incredibly loud. Here in California it may be a pain. Question is how do you guys reduce the exhaust noise (for those who can't stand straight pipe decibels), given that the turbo is so far back for a muffler? I know the C5 design is different from the Fbodys, but I know there are many creative people here. Please help out before I sell the system. Thanks.

Lewis

I have the same concern; my STS is too loud for my liking.
Please post the solution that you select.

The sound levels with and without cats are night and day for me. If I wasnt using a 2-Step I would have kept my Cats in... much quieter.

I pointed my waste gate opening toward the front of the car behind the exhaust pipe. You can see it better in this pic. It is pretty quiet with 5# of boost. Sounded like a flowmaster.

Don't worry about the stuff on the 12 bolt, its just gas from when we took off the inline fuel pump...its all cleaned up now.

Is there enough room with the TT vette system for a bullet?

Lewis, you are the same guy that posted on Norcal right?

I believe you are also in the San Jose area?

If you want you should check out what I have done and we can see if something similar can be done on your vette.

My car is nice and quiet. Well, as in no louder than a mild cat back quiet.

Blackbird,

Thanks for the ride in your car. You and your friend are Master exhaust craftsman. Now I really need to decide if I can keep the STS TT. Thanks.

PS. I looked at Summit Website. The shortest Bullet mufflers are 16 in long. May be too long for the allotted space don't you think?
