Late/after market heads on Early blocks
I noticed that my AFR heads (and cometic gaskets) have two large squarish cooling passages in both upper corners. The block only has the two front side passages, not the two rear passages. Is this a problem, since the heads do have these passages?
Are these conencted on a newer block? I could drill & tap a hole where these ports are located and run a pipe between these passages if necessary.
I have no fear of going at the block with the die grinder, I've done it twice so far, once for the LS6 valley cover mod and the other for the rear oil passage.

Dave...
They are there so the same gaskets can be used on both sides of the engine (they are then interchangable)....Do NOT drill the block....you will cause the water to take "shortcuts" and not cool the block and heads correctly.

I just wanted to make sure all was ok.
