So it looks like the new movie will kick ass. I'll most likely catch it on Friday. You guys can post your thoughts here and we already know that it's 3 hours long :eek2:

Peter Jackson loves the original King Kong....I see this as being true to the original, with badass special effects.
Personally i think he just re-made the movie to make more realistic dinosaurs than Spielberg had in Jurassic Park.

If I wanted 3.25 hours of apes and lizards, I'd watch the discovery channel.

Hopefully the movie isn't true to the orignal since the original sucked ass.
If Peter Jackson is behind it you can guarantee it will be long and boring just like Lord of the Rings. Maybe he will win 8 awards for this one too.
New rule. You can't win an Oscar for "Best Editing" when your movie is over 3 hours long.

DO NOT SPEAK ILL OF LORD OF THE RINGS!
Personally, I thought the LotR movies were brilliant and did a fairly good job of staying true to the books. He could have been much more long-winded. It's not Peter Jackson's fault that Bill Maher is a half-witted dickhead with the attention span of an 8 year old.

Seems I touched a nerve...
To be fair I suppose it's not Peter Jackson's fault that Tolken can't finish a freaking story in one book. :P

The Lord of the Rings is one book but for publishing reasons had to be split into 3. ;)

LotR was a great trilogy except for the last 30 minutes of the 3rd one where they tricked you 30 times into thinking it was "really" the end.
i'm considering seeing it tomorrow, but for 3.25 hours.....i dunno

Once they get onto the island the movie picks up and never stops. Don't let the length of the movie put you off. ;)

It was just around 3 hours and 10 minutes. I saw it last night at 12:01. Honestly I went in thinking it was going to be a flop, but I really liked it. IMO it didnt seem too drawn out either. Very good movie. Go check it out!

That was one of the most awsome movies that I have ever seen!!
"It wasn't the airplanes, it was beauty killed the beast."
saw it last night it was a good movie, really good special effects except for a couple of times where the girl was being carried and it looked pretty fake. start time was 8:25 (previews) and credits started running at 11:37.

i liked it alot, saw it yesterday. if you liked the old one you'll like this one that much better. the dinosaur fight kicks ass :) and there's also quite a bit of humor in it too. it is a bit lengthy but you're never really bored. start time was 3:30 and we got in the car to go home at quarter to 7 so 3 hours even is about right.

I saw it wednsday. I was getting pretty irritated during the first hour becuase it seemed like it was trying to hard to fit into the 1930s timeframe, plus it tried to make a subplot with EVERY single charactor. However, they're right about the fact that as soon as they arrive at the island, it turns into a totally differant movie. Kicks ass IMO. The only thing I will say is that the bugs are some of the most memorable parts of the movie. ;)

Just came back from watching it. Great movie and yes those bugs did get to me as well. ;) It didn't help that there was a king kong relative sitting in the row in front of me and he wouldn't shut up as he gobbled up everything in sight.

Yeah I just got back as well. Its one hell of a movie. I really enjoyed it, no slow parts or anything like that either. In fact there were a few scenes where it was just non stop action...really good stuff.
Only thing that creeped me out was those natives on that island. Dear god they were freaky!!!

no slow parts? what about the entire first hour of the movie when i was about to shoot myself in the face because the were still on the boat?
WOW!!!! i about crapped myself when i saw all the island people. i would be getting outta there in a hurry as soon as i saw that little girl  Yikes!
but over all it was decent. wasnt really to my likings special effects seemed kinda cheesy. i felt like i was watching jurassic park instead of king kong. middle of the movies when they are on the island is the best. the rest was kinda boring. just my .02.

I saw it tonight.
Was pretty slow all the way through for me. I coulda just watched the T-Rex fight and been done with it. Highlight of the movie IMO.
Worth 3 1/2 hours of holding your piss in the theater? Definately not. Make it a rental if you haven't seen it already....

definately long. i went to an 8:20 show thinking it was going to be an early night....yea, not exactly. but i thought it was good. my girlfriends 2 y/o thought the first hour was awesome...but the last 2 she just wanted to run around.

I thought it was just alright.
It had a lot of unesassary scenes that seemed to drag on.
The special effects werent that great.
The T-rex fight was VERY disapointing.
The last scene when Kong was on top of the tall building went on for days...(zzzzzz)
The best part about the whole night was my friend getting motion sickness and seeing her run out of the theatre to go throw up.

Perhaps kong could go to New York now and break up the strike!
