Man, sweet. I`ve got LME building my 408, with a set of ET heads coming. G-Force is putting her together for me right now. I`m like you with a 12-bolt, Just a A4! Looking for 530rwhp with everything I can bolt to her. Then spray a 200 shot threw a TNT ring! Sweet numbers Man!

Going on car in sig!

That's my car. :joecool: I haven't driven it yet, nor have I seen it in about two months :bang: but this definitely makes it all worthwhile.

Thanks to:

Texas Speed for building an awesome 408 and delivering it very quickly,
NL Hayes and his buddy Sly for all their hard work doing the installation and troubleshooting on the inevitable snags they ran into,
Becky Hayes for her awesome tuning skills (she got mad skillz, yo),
TEA for delivering an awesome set of stage 3 LS6 heads,

and last, but not least, to me for my financial contribution to this project. :jest:

Thanks to everyone for the kind words, I can't wait to drive this beast!!

Yes young lady, the infamous "Electric Grape" has been sold to my best friend Docspeed! She is in great hand and he has a few plans for her. Never fear though, I am scraping my knuckles every chance I get on my Z28. She should be ready for G10 :)

BTW, is this engine in the Hawke? You need to bring her down to Atlanta Dragway to see what she will do in a quarter next season!

I wish it was in the Hawk. lol But it belongs to a great guy that desires it. Our shop put the engine in for Colin (BADSS) and he will be picking it up in the next day or so.

what exhaust?

BADSS
12-15-2005, 11:56 AM
what exhaust?

Exhaust is QTP 1 3/4" long tubes with the high velocity merge collectors and Lane's 3" true duals with an X pipe and 18" Pro Flo Twister mufflers.

Anybody know how restrictive the Twisters are? I wonder if it would dyno higher with open headers.

Would I pick up any power going to a 1 7/8" primary header?

LOL..I think you're right. NL says anything over 25% throttle spins the tires...I think traction is going to be my biggest problem now!

no, do not go to a 1 7/8. you willl lose a ton of TQ and gain almost nothing. my 408 set up for drag racing max effort only gained 5rwhp from 6500+ going to 1 7/8 with high velocity collectors and lost about 20lb/ft of tq.

from my experience twister style mufflers are fairly restrictive. I bet bullets would pick up 10rwhp and open headers will probably pick up 10-15rwhp over that.

Thanks for the info on the bigger headers- it goes against conventional wisdom for a big cube engine, though, doesn't it?

What about a stepped header? What kind of impact do they have on power output?

I suspected the Twisters might be a bit restrictive- is there a better flowing and quieter muffler that would work with true duals? My car is loud! :eek2:

What about the Borla XR1's? I have heard they are quieter than bullets, and are a straight-through design muffler.
