Default Who has Removed Their RS Body Kit? Satisfied?

I am contemplating removing my RS body kit. I have some paint damage on the body kit pieces and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to remove the body kit than get everything repainted. I always liked the looks of Camaros without the body kit but fear that mine wouldn't look as good for some reason. I'm afraid the paint under the body kit wil be scratched and/or dulled. Has anyone removed their RS body kit and liked or disliked the results? I suppose I can take it off and see how it looks but it is a ton of work. Thanks!

Same here. Would like to see what some have to say about pulling off the kit.

I pulled it off of my 2000. It is easy to do, but leaves a BUNCH of holes all the way around your car. IMO, on a black car i wouldn't be that bad, but on a lighter or brighter colored car, they would need to be filled in, it looked horrible on my red 2000, very noticable.

Yeah it leaves a lot of hole but people dont notice it on mine, and its lowered so even better, they kind of have to squat down to see them, drilling out all those rivets is a bitch though.

Well, if you guys do take them off, I might be willing to buy them as long as there are no cracks or rips in the urethane. And if i have the money at the time....

On which pieces are the holes the most noticible? How was the paint looking under the body kit?

Was going to warn about the same thing. Does the factory RS spoilers leaves holes as well. the RS spoiler I had on my camaro attached with double sided tape....but it was aftermarket.

Yeah it has 3 holes about the size of a dime on each side, my uncle filled mine in for 100 bucks, the holes are most noticeable on the sides as thats where most of the rivets are, but nothing like "Oh my god!!!" looking.

Your car is black, his is bright orange. The holes will be 100x more noticable on his than on yours. Trust me, my 2000 was bright red, and it was HORRIBLE.

So the side skirts are the worst looking when removed? took a peak under one of the front body kit pieces and the paint looked pretty darn good to me. The holes weren't that noticible. Are the side panels bolted on, or are they riveted, or both? I would like to take one off and just see how it looks if its not too much trouble. I have to take the back one off anyways to fix some paint damage.

I'm pretty sure mine aren't riveted (at least on the bottom). There are two rivets in the front and rear fender wells, but that's about it. I think the undersides are held on by double sided tape. The front and rear looks to be the same as well.

It sucks, but removing it will shave weight and make the car look SO much cleaner.

If you look far underneath you'll see the holes. It is kind of strange. If you took the side pieces off you'd be left with a bunch of little brackets that are rivited to the car. The panel sets on top of those brackets and is held on the front and rear fender wells with some clips.

The front & rear is the same way.

Maybe 10 holes up front total, 30 holes between both sides, and another 10 on the rear. Light colored car? Don't do it unless you can get the holes filled.
