Default How much RWHP do accessories eat up

power steering, A/C, power brakes?

If you just had a belt fo the water pump and alternator, what would you pick up on a say a 427ci 500 RWHP engine.

Just curious. If anyone knows.

Nothing for power brakes.

On a steady-state dyno test it would show very little.
In real-world you could see 25hp+

I've measured a 25hp gain by removing all accessories.

Some people have tried to test this by simply removing the belt, but that is a bogus test and sometimes shows no gain at all.

If you remove or turn off the alternator, then you must keep the voltage up some other way. I use a Jacobs accuvolt power regulator for that.

So if someones going for big HP, like 900+ RWHP, there's no reason to try to save that small amount I guess by getting rid of A/C and power steering.

Dyno power or better performance on track?
If you're talking very high power and fast reving engine on track, then it will end up more than just 25hp.
