Default Knock Sensor: Delete or keep

I'm having a 408 built for simplicity just say street/race sized. How important is keeping the KS in the tune? My tuner will have input; my mechanic likes to have them. I'm sure you discuss here...

I think you'd want to keep them. I desensitized mine a bit to get rid of some of the false knock I was logging. I really don't think you'd want to delete them IMHO.

I'm with jmm on this. I can't think of any reason why you would want to get rid of them entirely.

keep them... it's added insurance... you're building a big dollar motor... no sense adding more risk than necessary

BTW that's one reason beyond the expected noise of valve train for the inquiry...main the sensor wells were some rust buckets. I never really thought why it was heavily suggested to use a leaf blower to dry my engine.
I'd be real certain you have clean connections all the way to the ECU...as well the torque spec was real light...i'll know this is nothing new to most of you.

I'm sure you got this covered, but is the wire okay? It's easy to route it under where the manifold seats, flattening or crushing it.

My 2000 LS1 calls for:
Knock Sensors

20 N·m

15 lb ft

My understanding is that over tightening may break the piezo mic sensor inside the knock sensors. Good luck.

Keep them. Just adjust the sensitivity so that it will only pick up a real knock.
