Default Exhaust ? and I have done a search

I recently bought a 2002 SS M6. I 'm going to put a MTI lid and exhaust on it. A lot of the sounds clips include other mods so I'm not sure what to expect. Any advice on the best exhaust to buy. I want a nice deep sound and lound sound at WOT.

Search for the Hooker catback. It's cheap and sounds great. One of the most popular exhausts on the board.

Hooker seems popular and cheap, although on a stock engine I think they are rather sedate. Also has a distinctive sound.

TSP Rumbler, does what it says, and should be pretty loud.

SLP LM, oh yes its loud. Not to everyones taste but I think it's good valaue for money, it flows well and is made from stainless.

GMMG or Stainless Works chambered, expensive and quality, and arguably the best sounding.

But there are many others such as Borla, Corsa, Magnaflow.

Flowmaster is reputed to produce less power (dyno proven), so unless you really want one probably aviod it.

Personally I like the loud raw sound so:

1. Duals (custom made with long tube headers) would be option number 1.

2. A budget system would be a SLP LM (and keep the cats, with LT headers later on)

3. Premium system would be Stainless Works chambered exhuast (more toned and less drone than GMMG), plus cats and LT's.

I assume you've been to www.ls1sounds.com

I like you, just bought an LS1...01 Formula M6....I just installed a lid and Hooker exhaust. The sound is awesome. It sounds stock at idle, but when you hit the gas, its AWESOME. And the price is inexpensive. I also dynoed 2 days ago and put down 314/331 with the lid and exhaust. Its worth it

I'd get a set of duals. If you want to stay with a cat-back get a magnaflow.

thanks a lot. I thought about a GMMG....Is that a waste of money if I don't plan on getting headers and a cam?

Go with Duals. search up on them so you can make a set that will suit you.

Also as brought up www.ls1sounds.com is a great way to get an idea what you want.
