Default What's the advantage of changing 99 oil pump to a 00 and up?

I have a 99 TA and hear people talking about changing the oil pump to a 00 and up. What is the reason for this?

Had the same question, kinda. Rumor has it they're prone to failure... Too many people here have it happen to them to be just a rumor though.
