Default How much HP can a 2 1/2" Exhuast Setup Handel?

My exhaust is as follows:

Hooker SuperComp LT into a Custom 2 1/2" Y-Pipe into a 3" I-Pipe with a Electric Cutout then into 2 - 2 1/2" pipes through 2 Dynomax 23 1/2 Bullet Race Muffler.

How much HP do you think my current setup can handle...

Im about to run a Procharger that will most likely be very close to 500HP will my current setup handel it or will I have to go to a 3" Y.

I initally went with the 2 1/2" Y for clearance reasons, but if it will be a necesity I may have to get it changed. I know its alot of info but maybe this will help you all give me your best suggestion. Thanks fellas

3" single handles up to 370hp
3.5" single handles up to 503hp
2.5 duals handles up to 513hp, probably better go with duals

I have Stainless Works with the 2 1/2 collector and 2 1/2 y-pipe dumping into the 3 1/2 I pipe and then dual 3 1/2 pipes and I was wondering the same thing. When I had it dyno'ed most were saying I would only get around 375-380 (after cam install) with the 2 1/2, but I got 400rw. I have to believe your setup will handle 500rw with no problem, and changing to 3" will probably gain a little, but maybe not worth the change.

Lane and others I've talked to all say that 450rwhp is about where the 2.5 duals start to become a significant restriction compared to 3".

If you go with at 3" Y, it will go into a single 3" I, and that will constitute your greatest restriction. BTW, does your 2.5" Y have cats? If so, do you have any pictures? I'm interested in having one done here locally if I get LT's.

Chip Foose just rebuilt a '69 Camaro and installed the 620 horse GM 572. It has 2.5" duals all the way back. I fail to believe that Chip Foose, who appears to know his ****, would restrict one of his cars in this manner by using an exhaust diameter that is too small. He has a huge reputation on the line and he is not all about exterior appearance as some think. What's under the hood is just as important to him. So apparently, 2.5" is sufficient for 620 bhp.

I've got Stainless Works 2.5" headers, 2.5" y into a 3.5" i-pipe and exhaust. Flows plenty.

Do you have the relocation BMR panhard to get that 3.5" over the axle...How is clearance with that?
