Question AFR205s w/918 springs, can I use the AFR spring seat/cup?

Wanting to install a set of 918s in my AFRs. Can I use the AFR spring seat/cup or do I need something smaller to accommodate the smaller spring diameter???

Unless you want valve float that you can "hear" on the chassis dyno (literally) around 6800 RPM's, I would advise against it. Actually, with a lighter stock rocker you could get away with it but why give up the "insurance" a quality dual spring provides. Scott...check out our new 8019 spring. More seat and open pressure then our "std" spring, with the same ultra high quality (reliable) material used in the steel wire. Your package is a bit too aggressive for a beehive in my opinion, and even with some of the heavier valve gear options out there, the 8019 pulls clean to 7K. Not to mention breaking a single beehive at high RPM will undoubtedly leave you SOL...

But it will fit and locate without a problem BTW, which is really the question you had posed in the first place.

Have a good Holiday....

Hey Tony,

I am headed to a smaller more wife friendly cam (226/230 XE-R...or...228/230 XE-R) and wanted to go with a little less spring. I have always felt there was no upside to having too much spring for your mission. I have put 10k on current springs and was in the market for a replacement some time soon anyway...

As usual, thanks for the info...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS...

Scott

I would use our standard spring then....similar pressures to the 918, excellent durability, and peace of mind that you have two of them. Buzz me at AFR next week....I'll see what I can do for you.
