So I, like many others, have a bad rear pinion seal often. The last time it was taken in my dad brought it in for me. It appears that it was not fixed, since I got a terrible whining sound out of the rear about 100 miles away from the destination of a long trip, and it kept getting worse.
The rear end makes a loud whining, screeching sound now at ANY speed. It's currently at Pep Boys (I'd do it myself if I were home), the only place open on Sunday here, getting new gear oil/LSD additive put in it, since it now sounds like there is NONE in it.
I was wondering if the rear is going to be significantly worse off from having run 100+ miles on low/no gear oil. Seems to me the answer is yes...
