ARP Main Studs... Torque to Yield, or Torque to Spec?
I am trying to figure out the proper way to torque the ARP main studs. I have read about people who use 15 lb-ft + 80 degress on the inside bolts, 15 lb-ft + 53 degrees on the outside bolts, and then someone said they are 60 lb-ft on the inners and 50 lb-ft on the outers. I don't have instructions for mine, so does anyone know? I figure it would be different than the stock TTY specs.

The recommended torque from ARP is 60 lb with Moly lube for ALL main cap studs. Forget about that 80 degree stuff. I have had my motor apart several times and 60 w/moly seems to work great. The outside block bolts are the stock GM bolts that are 18 lbs, they have some kind of a sealer/loctite under the head. When checking main bearing clearances, torque all, including the outside 18 lb, it makes a difference.

Here
The main caps are torqued down to 60 ft-lb on the inside and 50 ft-lb on the outside.
