No IAT sensor
I'm replacing my MAF and therefor, I'm running around with no IAT sensor. What all does the IAT play an affect on?
1.Saw the table for timing.
2.I don't have a PE vs. IAT addition... It's grayed out.
What others?
The MAF plays a part in the shifting... But I can scale this down to decrease the shift firmness.
Anything else? I just want to be safe while it's not plugged in.
Thanks.

Hmmmmmmmm...from what I understand, the IAT sensor is a decent player in the airflow calcs. I don't run a MAF right now, but still have an 85mm descreened truck MAF in my intake due to the built in IAT sensor.
Maybe someone with a little more technical background on the algorithms GM used will chime in (like Jimmyblue).

Hmmmm...here's an idea for ya. Log the IAT temps with it disconnected, and see what the PCM defaults to. I'm guessing it is a really high number for safety reasons. Then you can at least go from there. It might not even have much of an effect on performance. Then again, since I'm !MAF and !O2 sensors, I'm gonna make sure my tune is as robust as it can be.

I wouldn't run around too long without it. I belive the IAT is used in some equation (I don't think we can see it, at least with HPtuners) that is used to derive cylinder air temp. In order to determine airmass in the cylinder, you have to know how much and how dense, and I think IAT helps it determine how dense. I could be wrong though, but it has to get air temp from somewhere, being as without temperature you'll never know density.
