Default head and cam recomendations

zl 402 iron block stroker with fast 90mm intake and throttle body is the project motor i have goin and not sure what to do about the heads. i still have the ones from my ls1 but im not sure if getting them worked on will be suffecient compaired to buying a set of aftermarket heads. as far as the cam goes the car isnt going to be a daily driver per say but i would like to be able to drive on pretty days if i want to. is not a race car just a dream project. streetablikity is a mild concern. hope i have provided enough info.

Well a safe bet is the AFR 225. I have no idea of your cam - pistons etc.

You dont have a cam yet? If its just for fun, drivability? go hydraulic cam in the mid 230's and a AFR 225 or ET head. Ive seen a TSP majic stick in a 402 and it idled pretty good and put 500 to the wheels. Its just had stage 3 factory heads.
If you going all out than a solid roller and ET 245 heads range is more your speed.

You can get to 500 pretty easy even with a mild cam. Good set of heads and a moderate cam with a 90/90 intake and you should expect over 500.

would 243 heads that have been ported and polished be a good choice or will it not be enough air flow

Only a good stage 3+ maybe. I would stick with the AFR or ET head 215 or bigger if you want to make the 500 without a monster cam.

its ont about being cheap its about me going from a v6 that puts 190 to the ground and switching to a 500rwhp monster and i dont want to kill my self it may see the track once in its life just to see what it can do and other than that it will be a street car that i can say i built.

Those can be good. There is alot of choices you should decide some factors such as cam and intake. If i were you i'd buy the AFR or ET 225's. We didn't have that luxury until now. All we had were ported stock heads.

well ive updated a few things as of late it is no longer the 402 going 408 still using the fast intake with 90mm throttle body, as far as cam im thinking something in the 250/250 range witha 110 ls. still stuck on heads really leaning towards the stage 3 6.0 liter heads. although i must admitt the et sounds awsome but im not sure if i want to fork over the cash at this point. this is not me being cheap i jsut cant justify the extra grand for 50hp that i dont really need the setup im going to run is gonna let me accomplish my goal of 500 rwhp.
