Cadillac CTS-V - Magnacharger tuning question (cam/ headers, etc) car is bucking

Just finished the installation of a bunch of performance parts for my V. Magnacharger, blower cam, valvetrain, headers, high flow cats, dual 3" BB exhaust, and used the Superchips Microtune. The car does not run right. I put some NGK TR55 spark plugs in gapped at .035.

After the car warms up, when under part/full throttle it starts bucking and you cant get the car into high RPMS. It feels like it is running way to lean/rich. I was thinking rich because when the car is cold (cold air, more dense) it does not act up as much but still does not have the power anywhere near it should. Is this a tuning issue?

What would be the best way to get this car tuned? Note: i will be in the Austin/ Houston areas.

Thanks,
Derek

Sounds like you need more fuel. I would get a StealthV tune or at least get a dyno run to see where your A/F ratio is....StealthV will be way better than a dyno tune as he actually emphasizes much more on driveability(part throttle).

Your cam is likely the culprit for needing the extra fuel at part throttle. If you can't wait for a Stealth tune, MTI in Houston is where my buddy goes. He swears by them..his Z06 sounds and runs GOOOOD!

MTI is also a sponsor I think...

is the superchips tune meant for the maggie? Sound sfishy to me... You need to call stealthV about a tune ASAP.. I would not drive it either since you may be doing damage if the car is bucking that bad...

Good luck,

Reed

Completely bypass anything useing Stealth V tunes. Save yourself the headache,...GO TO MTI(motorsport technologies) and see Jeff. TRUST ME ON THIS MAN. You do NOT want a stealth V tune. Speaking from expereince.

"superchips" tuner isn't setup for a car with an aftermarket cam bucky. Ding ding.

I think you need to talk to a real person. Sealth does not list a phone numberon his web site.
Talk to Myron Cottrell ower of TPIS. Before Magnuson developed their own software they were referring customers to TPIS for software redos. Ph. is 952.448.5330.

Anything and everything I've heard about SteathV's tunes are nothing but extremely positive. I, however, am not speaking from experience...so I can only go off what everyone else is saying.

What went bad with your tune? Maybe I shouldn't wait either.

Everyone with somewhat stock cars doesn't have a problem. Anything resembling stock, I would say your alright with his tune.

ANYTHING with a NOT-stock cam, or more.....sorry, wouldn't do it.

1st rule of thumb,...there is NOTHING like dyno tuneing. Tuneing a car, on the dyno, on that day, is the proper way to tune a car. Not on a bench, and not in some other state and altitude. no two cars are the same man.

Trust me,..go with a local LS1 tuner. MTI will be more then great. TPIS is great to, they have alot of years of experience. I just don't know if thery're in texas. I don't think they are.

The issue I had with a stealth tune, was on a cammed V , with blower and full exhaust. The car with the stealth v tune was getting about 8 miles to the gallon. Tips were BLACK. as well as ALOT of timeing was dialed in. It cost me a PCM, since I couldn't wipe his clean and start over. Plus, we made 20 more ft-lbs to the wheels with another tuner.

Alot of Cadillac dorks(sorry, only 15% of them are cool) follow him like he's mr.man but, thats cause he is the ONLY supporting TUNER on their website. If you notice, everyone that has his "tune".... has common mods. 98% of them don't even dyno tune they're cars,....they just think it's faster,...cause it "feels" faster.

Trust one of the industries best,..go to MTI.

I have the HP tuner software which is like the LS1 tuner but either one will do. I dont know much about the Stealth V tune but i know MT1 knows there shit. I love hows these cars have a 168 governor. i got myn up to 170 after the tune, it took a while but it was interesting and smooth.

hp tuners is a great tookl if you wish to have an accurate tune....done by you!!! You will need to read alot and you'll find that more than a few members will not likely give out their secrets to tuning but you'll find tons of info nontheless.

I have it for my z28 and with the 408ci, i have alot of woek ahead of me. Trust me, it aight easy....but respectfully, there is no better what to tune a motor combo unless your on a dyno viewing your power and A/F or with a protable wideband controller and with ALOT of time on your hands.....

the handheld, generic tune are well, generic..... dont trust them and if you can, dont run the motor, you will probably cause something to go wrong. Also, stealthV tune are showing some impressive numbers and i wont discrete them. I do know that the difference between a good tuner of a great tuner is time applied to tuning. THere are Hundreds of tables and thousands of table that must me reviewed. However, they are all easily understood and related....as soon as you figure out the language, you are on your way to becoming a top notch tuner...

get her tuned on a dyno or from a local person....contact stealthV and see what he/they can do for you...

good luck!!!!!

V-series... Sorry miseread the post... Thought it was a knock, but it wasnt... my bad.

I think we are in agreement that the superchips tune is not the right way to go with a cam (or even a maggie? do they have one for the maggie?)
