Default Rotery cam??

A few years ago ther was some new fangle device called the Coates rotery cam and last I heard it was right about to be offerd to the genral public, has anybody seen or heard anythign about them? Their prototype engine was impressive a small block ford making 1,100hp NA! Does anybody have one and if so what kind of improvement are they over regular heads?

There has been a bunch of hoopla on this design and I think the last I heard they have real trouble sealing.

Basically it's just a cam with a bunch of holes in it that allow air to pass through them at specific moments.

If you guys want to blow your minds with wierd engine concepts, check out these:

Rand cam engine
http://www.regtech.com/
24 combustion events per cycle, 1hp/.75lb
prototype engine: 40lbs, 6" dia, 6" long, 42hp@7000rpm

Round engine
http://www.roundengine.com

Those two make a rotary engine look simple.

There have been alot of concept engines over the years, and some of them have had much more potential than the piston engine, but Detroit tends to be very slow at adapting to new technolagy, prob because of how much effort they have put into perfecting the piston engine. Deos coats sell their retery cam yet or are they still just talking about it? Have they tried to actualy race it yet?

It's a valve system with no springs, no valve bounce, and alot less friction.

Am I reading the round engine right, 936hp@3000rpm's & 2160ft-lb@1,500rpm's for a 7.2L? Thats insane !
