Default qtp hvmc vs. pacesetter

ok heres the deal. i just recieved my pacesetters last week prior to this world altering event of the qtp hvmc price drop. so now im in a bad spot because i wanted the qtp originaly but didnt want to spend the dough. are they REALLY worth the extra money and the inconvienence of sending them back to one of our site sponsors who has been very helpful and fast on all my previous purchases? are they going to make that much more power? my car is a bolt on only car but there is a very good chance of a cam in the future. this extra money spent now will put a damper on the cam upgrade. also ive been told the qtp y will not work with my bmr ds loop. is there another it will work with? i need to make my mind up quickly as ill be running out of time on my return capabilties. especially with the holiday. anyone have any power gains from swapping the qtps on their car?

HELP!

hmmm i just read the article in gmhtp when they installed them and a cutout on a bolt on car and over a completely stock exhaust they got 28hp and 34 lb ft. thats only marginally better than the pacesetters. and thats with an open cutout. considering my car is a bolt on car i dont think i would be able to utilize the advantages in the qtp's. and if i do a cam its prob going to be a cheatr which was designed to work with stock exhaust. im confused i need guidance. lol.

I wish I would have dynoed back to back LT swap results. Instead, my swap results include intake swap numbers.
My head/cam setup gained;

35rwhp and 16tq with the slp lt/ls6 vs. qtp hvmc/fast 90 swap. How much of those #'s is attributed to either the intake or exhaust manifolds, I will never know.

And more importantly, was the area under the curve I picked up with the above swap:

See how much sooner 350 ft-lbs are available.....

i also wonder how much of that was attributed to the y pipe. i will be using an almost identical y pipe on either header (mufflex). ive also heard how much the fast 90 is worth. too much to think about. i think my pride is just hurt from losing to my buddys turbo civic and im trying to make sure it doesnt happen again. but i also dont want to go thru all the work if it is a big difference.

Oh ,yeah, the previous setup (SLP/LS6) had an X-pipe.

Loss to turbo civic? Nothing a $500 nitrous kit can't cure.

i wont spray the civic out of principle. sad part is my car makes about 20 rwhp more than his but his car weighs jack. im hoping the headers put me back up next to or in front of him. ill be putting on my bo white tb and ls6 intake at the same time.

anyways back on topic. i forgot about your x pipe. i remember reading about it on sffba. but u also said how well that 2otl flowed. did u run a ds loop on that car? thats another big issue with me right now as i need one of those and the qtp/ mufflex y interfears with them.

X-pipe actually used a Lakewood DS Loop as a hanger. Tade off was that I lost roughly 3.5" of ground clearance UNDER the cross brace (bad).
The wide mufflex ORY merge does conflict with a tunnel brace style DS loop. It can work, with a visit to an exhaust shop, where they can either finesse it in there, or chop some length off the legs of the ORY, to bring the merge closer to the front of the car.

QTP says there headers will make 18 more hp than other LT's. Not sure if thats rwhp or not though.

Get rid of the pacesetters now and get the hvmc. You will be kicking yourself in about 4 months.

New price decrease on HVMC? Aren't they still something like 1300$ for just headers and HVMC w/o y-pipe, so w/ hvmc and 1 3/4 headers and ORY its 1700-1800$??

I'm struggling between these two brands myself. I think the cash needed for a 90/90 and QTP/HVMC is crazy high... but im 23 and my income is limited so thats just where my perspective is coming from.

500$ for ORY and Pacesetter or HVMC/QTP for 1800$ for 18hp? You keep the 18hp and I'll keep the 1300$, unless I have this QTP price thing way off?

725 for the 1 3/4 with hvmc. There's a seperate thread about it.
