On earlier f-bodies it's a direct bolt on. However, on 00+ you will have to make a spacer to take up thorttle cable slack, if you have TCS your throttle cable should be adjustable. The truck TB has a smaller cam on the end like 98-99 F-bodies. I personally use one without any issues. I just made a spacer for the throttle cable at the gas pedal out of some brake line.

are the drive by wire throttle bodies the same as the cable drive ones as far as fitting the intake manifold?

The housing is basically the same. Coolant tubes are a little different.

Your better off swapping out the shaft and blade for '00 & up cars.

BTW, jimmyblue is the expert on this
