Default 97 v6 camaro questions

I am asking a few q's on behalf of a good friend of mine who has a 97 v6 5spd camaro. First and foremost, he and I were wondering how compatible a stock GM 10bolt posi rear like on all our LS1's is with his car, seeing as how he does not have limited slip and is a one wheel wonder!

Also, we were wondering what the approite ammount of nitrous to spray? He wants to be faster than a newer 99-04 Mustang GT (or close) and I told him it would prolly take a 75 shot to pull it off, is this a safe amount to run on a v6? Also, will the tranny hold up?

Please let me know! Also, so its already covered, upgrading to a v8 isnt an option due to insurance and being as that its his parents preventing him from selling it...

thanks in advance!

The rear should bolt right in, as for the N2O, you might want to look/post in the nitrous section

You could get the same rear as we have in our cars in the v-6's, was a option simular to the RS package in the bird...

yeah the rear will be fine..mine is a y87 and got the zexel torsen posi with 3.42..so it smokes both tires instead of one...and i think the safest shot that the stock bottom end can handle is 100....best to ask the experienced v6 guys...some run a 125 wet shot but they are usually upgraded and tuned

on camarov6.com there are a lot of v6s in the 14s and some in mid 14s that GT territory if it's stock, but it rarely is. I'm not sure of their exact mods but a hotcam is very popular among v6 owners that wanna go alittle faster. You'd also want full bolt ons and 373s. nitrous wouldn't hurt either (unless you use too much.)

best bet in these cars is full exhaust with headers, a deep gear, intake and then a cam is a great addition also..so is nitrous but you need to know how and when to use it...a stall also wakes up a 4 speed...and you always have the suspension mods which are endless..but 13's is in reach of the v6

yeah he wanted to know how much nitrous he needed to keep up with me and i told him, that on a stock motor that amount wouldn't be safe, but i thought he could prolly get in reach of a Mustang GT, He only wanted to do a 75 shot max, so ill tell him that that should be ok as long as he does it safely...

thanks for the info gentlemen

hey natronathan a buddy of mine has a v6 05 mustang and a 100 shot of NOS but his engine is now toast, ford's warranty is replacing it. IMO i'd say just get an LS1 but like you stated it's not an option so just tell him to be careful with what he does cause it might cost him almost as much for an LS1 to fix everything if something goes wrong.
