Changing valve seals has no effect on your rotating assembly. Just a coincidence.

why were the valve seals replaced? give some background....did you call HPE and discuss this before you posted? ....couldnt hurt, you could also call another shop and tell them what happend and get a second opinion...just my .02 cents

FWIW you are going to have to back up your claim with something legit for the thread to last very long.

I don't want to take sides, but couldn't it be possible that if the valve seals were installed wrong, or something was damaged, that oil could have entered the combustion chamber? If there was enough oil it could hydro-lock the motor and cause the rod to be "thrown", right? I'm just guessing, I could be a totally wrong and said driver could be an idiot. HPE does have a good reputation and I'm sure if they're to blame, they'll take care of it.

We replaced the valve seals because he said they were leaking and the car was smoking alot, when we went to replace them not one valve seal was damaged or could we find anything wrong with them, we went ahead and replaced them anyways free of charge. Next day he said he started the car in the garage and it just kicked a rod. This was after he said he drove it all the way home to pearland area from our shop wuth no problems, which is a good drive. He had the car towed in, we pulled the valve covers, everything on the top end looked perfect. After that he picked the car up back up. I believe since the motor was smoking and the valves seals were fine, something else already happened.

Default Something smells??

Yea this thread. The only way changing valve seals could cause major problems it not have keepers on right and drop a valve. If your top end is fine then HPE did nothing wrong. Now appologise for trying to bash them in a public forum and go order a shortblock.

The only thing that smells is this BS you're trying to pull.

If the seals were fine, and your car had already been smoking, then you had a pre-existing problem, and the rod kicking was not HPE's fault.

Seriously, you think HPE changing the valveseals on a motor with a problem before hand caused it to throw a rod?

thanks for the laughs though!

I would suggest that you call HPE and discuss this with them before making a post on here and bashing them for something that is probably not their fault.
