I put one in My 97. I would recomend you get new Gm lifters depending on your miles. You will need new hardened pushrods and Valve springs. For springs I used K-motion K-800's(match these with retainers locks ect.., I didnt need to do any machining on my heads with those. You will also need to buy all the gaskets like Intake man, timing cover kit. The timing cover kit comes with everything on the front of the engine. You need to be careful with pulling the timing cover gasket because you HAVE to drop the oil pan so you dont break the gasket. The only other thing is make sure you are very clean when you have your intake pulled off.

You wont have to drop the motor to do the oil pan. You will need to unbolt it to get the timing cover to clear( when you get to it, you will know what I am talking about. You wont have to pull your heads either.

Yeah, the guy who did my timing chain didn't drop the oil pan and I ended up having to get my motor basically rebuilt. I could hearing the bad bearing when I would rev the car up...

I dont remeber the part numbers but hopefully this helps. I used the stock lenth pushrods 7.20" by comp cams(the chromoly ones). I used a set of 1.6 self aligning scorpion rr's with the stock stud(3/8). I would recommend using non self aligning rocker with guide plates though, thats what I am switching too soon. Change the 3/8 stud to 7/16 studs as well. You might as well do it right the first time.

do i have to change or re-tap the heads for the 7/16" studs or is it 7/16" where the rocker arm bolts?

You'll should put down some tasty numbers with 1.6's on there but if your on a budget, you can use the stock rockers. I plan on get some 1.6's after I get a new hood. They make safety latches for a reason

I have a cam only 95 with an 847 and love it, I replaced the lifters with sealed power as they will accept a little more aggressive ramp rate than the stockers, I used comp 987 springs(should have went 918's) and CAT rockers, and the factory hardened pushrods and guideplates from Combination motorsports. The guide plates need to be specifically for an LT1 or bowties heads, SBC guide plates will not work.

No dyno yet but it runs 7.80's in the 1/8 with just minor bolt ons and 3.23 gears

As far as I know, You buy the studs and they thread right in with no machining.
