Default Broke another Pioneer Valve Spring on the 97'......

As I feared coming back during a 180 mile trip on 12-28, the sound was a broken valve spring..........
#5 exhaust as the pic show.
Just like the one I did last year(#6 exhaust), guess I will be replacing them all now at around 10K miles
It happens.........not like I have been beating on it or anything
I have the other 7 cyls of PP golds on the work bench.
I just got done using my boroscope............piston and valve look ok. Valve seems to be ok and spins freeley w/o any slop in the guide, just like the last one......so time will tell!.
Got everything cleaned up so now it's time to change the spring(s) out!

The 1st spring that broke did have a nick were it broke...............this time I don't care, new springs for all. Whats that old adage about "third time"
This was the stock springs on the Cartek Stage 4 stroker heads in early 2003.......sure hope they have gone to something else

That's a harmonic break, you got something going on in the valvetrain and the springs don't like it.

No bad vibs here..........just driving 130 miles on a broken spring.
These had 10K hard miles on a questionable material spring, but all is well now.
Got the other PP gold springs on Saturday.
Crane install tool works great......2 springs at a time!
The one valve guide had maybe 20% damage around the very top seal area but it will be fine
Other than a couple of skin nicks, broken 10mm socket & 1/4 to 3/8 adapter twisted off.........sounded good & started right up.
Took it for a drive in the neighborhood to get the oil temps up and parked for the night.
After a good washing yesterday...took it out to beat on it.
All is good
