Default NH, MA or ME Transmission builders? 4L80e

I'm in the market sooner than i had hoped for a built 4L80e. I have been in contact with Rock-on and Finish line. Rock on's price is fantastic for a level 5. I'm hesitant about getting a tranny from someone on the internet and would rather find a local shop. Can anyone point me in the right direction? MA, NH, ME

I have used Performance Transmission in Wakefield MA, and can't complain at all. I can't believe my 4l60 is still in the car.
They are not a board sponsor, but I posted it because I don't think any of our local board sponsors do tranny's. If I'm wrong then a mod can go ahead and delete this post.

anyone ever heard anything good or bad about New England Transmissin in Portland, ME? They quoted me $3800 for a 4L80E with triple disc converter. Seems kinda steep compared to some sponsors i've already spoken to.

Oh yeah Keith, I thought he was in wakefield though. Maybe he moved, its been a few years since I've seen him. Which is the way I like.

ok, so they both say the 80e can easily hold 1000rwhp. They both say i just need a "shift kit". One says $400 the other says $1700. Clearly they have differing opinions on what a "shift kit" is. Now i'm torn.

My 408 is being built as we speak. Are you still interested in my 6.0L? PM me

I'm definately diggin the $400 deal. I guess I should have asked more questions about what exactly they want to do, but, i know nothing about transmissions. Keith does sound like a cool guy.

I know. I explained to both of the shops that my ultimate goal is 800rwhp and they both claim it's no problem. I want to do this right, but also don't want to spend money i don't need to spend. I'm only gonna be making like 550hp at the wheels if i'm lucky. I think I'm gonna do the $400 route for now until I can afford a new power adder which probably won't be for at least a year.

I agree, Buddy Souza builds a hell of a transmission and stands behind it.

The one he built for me that I had in my 94 Z/28 will soon be taking up residence in my 73 Z/28.

He also has a tranny dyno and all trannys are dyno tested before they go out the door.

Tell him Uncle Marc sent ya

i talked to buddy today for almost an hour. I had no idea they have a Mustang Dyno. That thing sounds friggin awesome. They must have changed their name or something cause it's not called sra. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to say who quoted me what, but, he wasn't the cheapest price i got today, lol. He spoke very highly of Don and that impressed me. He very easily could have tried to convince me to let his shop do my install and tuning along with the tranny work, but, he didn't.

Very cool guy, seems very knowegable, has some very impressive cars he's working on including a 427 twin gt42 setup. I've got to see that **** when it's done.

It's actually called Maximum Performance now.

His Mustang dyno is pretty good, we did some tuning on my 94 on it last spring.

He's one of the few people I trust.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

He gave me a free baseline dyno because he liked my car and wanted to play on the new dyno.
