Default My thoughts on the Rose Bowl

I don't like to trash talk. I much prefer celebrating an actual victory over celebrating a potential victory.
  • Vince Young is amazing. This team won't be the same without him.
  • Selfishly, I want Vince to come back for his senior year. Realistically, he probably needs to bolt now.
  • The Houston Texans need to re-think Reggie Bush. He got frustrated under pressure by a college defense. What will happen to him against pros?
  • Lendale White is a HOSS!
  • Matt Leinart came off as a sore loser.
  • Pete Carroll and Mack Brown are class acts all the way.
  • When will ABC learn that you shouldn't use the camera mics when showing the bands at halftime? Use the pressbox mics. Otherwise, you make the bands sound sloppy.
  • Speaking of halftime, memo to the USC Band: You're not the Ocean of Soul. You're more like the Puddle of Honkies.
  • The USC offensive line should be drafted as a unit. They're great.
  • All the "experts" (except Lee Corso) are eating crow. I love that!
  • Of all the highs and lows of being a UT football fan, this is the highest I've ever felt. I feared I wouldn't see a National Title in my lifetime, but they did it. I'm so proud!
Hook 'em!

I couldn't agree more with what you said on all accounts.

But what about that LenDale White. Reggie Bush who?

I agree with everything you said.

People do need to stop hating on Bush. He got 13 carries and ran 80+ yards. 13. Pretty damn good since LW was also rushing for 6+ypc and had 3TD's.

When was Bush frustrated? Are you talking about the lateral? I agree that was a dumb move but he's 21 and was trying way too hard last night. Constantly trying to get along the sidelines.

The touchdown run and the last drive when he ran for 20 or so yards where it. Bush did nothing else. The majority of his yards where on those to runs. Bush is good in college, not for the pros. I think he would be a better reciever for sure. Now for White. That man is going to be a HOSS. He runs strong and hard. Good runner. He was the forgotten man untill last night. Total yards per game don`t mean nothing, if you can`t put it in the end zone!

Bush is going to be a great NFL player and the Texans will still take him with the #1 overall pick, but LenDale White definitely out played him last night. I agree that both Mack and Carroll are class acts. I didn't watch the bands at the half to hear the mic thing. That was pretty low-class what Leinart said. He should have taken the loss like a man and given credit where credit was due to TEXAS!

I think Bush is still a great talented player. I really feel like USC kinda hung him out to dry in the game last night. Not that it hurts my feelings, GO Horns. But, I am the only one who see's Reggie Bush wind up turning into a 3rd down back/ 3rd down Possesion Reciever/ Kick & Punt return specialist. I don't know, just kinda see him like Daunte Hall or for some of the older crowd, Mel Grey of the Detriot Lions. He seems a little undersized for the NFL.

The comment that Matt Leinart made at the end just showed his own ignorance. I mean, you may truely feel that way, but both teams played their hearts out and it really could have gone either way. Sure they made the plays at the end and they wone, but thats all part of the game. Gotta be able to finish.

What a game.
Reggie Bush got shut down b/c the TX defense just keyed off of him. USC did the right thing and use him as a decoy, enter Lendale White...
Leinhart needs to learn how to run, even for a white boy he looks slow.
Young is truly amazing, i've never seen 1 guy carry his whole team...
The TX offenive line should get more respect, no sacks the entire game... 3 All American's... Young better buy them some good steaks!!!

Young better go the pro's now, other than the O-line he didn't have much help and they are all graduating.
He will be a good Pro QB, smart, instict, LEADER.

Just my thoughts

great points mike!

what instrument did you play, i dont recall if you had mention?

I always notice when you watch the bands they sound so shitty, but then again i have the chance to be at every home game and all away games :o... the band rocks, and they give us(the hellraisers) their extra water/gatorades and apples! During the game

i honestly didnt think UT's offensive line played that well. USC's offensive line played spectacular. Young had guys coming at him a lot, he was just able to run away and around them.... and even throw the ball while people were hanging on his legs.

something our RM was not this year.

Matt Leinart came off as a sore loser.
He did, he had a great run as a QB. But what he said was asinine.

Trumpet. I was in LHB from 1996-1998 (the 1999 Cotton Bowl was my last act as a UT student). Section leader in 1998 (one of seven). Kappa Kappa Psi (National Honorary Band Fraternity) in 1998. Some of the best years of my life.

Leinhart said that USC was still the better team and that Texas just made some plays, or something very close to that.

Dude you got beat. You may feel that way but you don't actually say that on national TV. He should have given praise to UT and congratulated them on the win and then rode off into the sunset.

All I can say is our Defense did what it needed to do to win the game. When it really counted we stopped them. Yes they scored 4 times in the second half. But they couldn`t get the 5th to win it! Why, TEXAS DEFENSE stood there ground and won. Thats what they have done all year! God BLess them, with all the talk about not being able to win-they did it!!!

Yup, and IMO, it will, (or at least should) stick with him and stand out with recruiters from the NFL about that type of attitude. I mean, there's a lot to be said about being a class act, go back into the field house and bitch about why you lost, and say that you were a better team. Don't make an *** of yourself on National TV, and in front of the troops watching overseas.
